Theme Installation

Download the theme archive from the marketplace and unzip it. Navigate to SportsPress version folder. There are several files and folders inside the theme archive:

1. topclub-sp.zip - main archive with the theme
2. documentation.zip - offline documentation for the theme
3. Archives with demo content for slider
4. topclub-sp-child.zip - child theme archive

Installation

Installation in the Admin Panel

In the Admin Panel navigate to Appearance → Themes → Add New → Upload Theme

1. Select the theme archive (topclub-sp.zip)
2. Click Install Now
3. Navigate to Appearance → Themes and activate it

FTP Installation

1. Open your FTP software and get access to your website.
2. Open the following directory: wp-content → themes
3. Extract the theme archive (topclub-sp.zip) to this folder
4. Navigate to the Admin Panel → Appearance → Themes and activate the theme

Plugin Installation

Once the theme is activated, the list of required plugins appears in the Admin Panel.

• CSA Top Club SP (required) - the plugin containing necessary functionality for theme.
• Kirki (required) - the plugin necessary for the theme customizer.
• SportsPress (required) - the plugin containing all the sports-related functionality.
• One Click Demo Import (required/optional) - the plugin required for the demo content import.
• QuadMenu (optional) - the mega menu plugin.
• Smart Slider 3 (optional) - the slider plugin.
• WooCommerce (optional) - the online shop plugin.
• AddToAny Share Buttons (optional) - the plugin adding share and follow buttons.

If you want to import the demo content, the installation of all the plugins is highly recommended.

Once the SportsPress plugin is activated, the setup screen appears. You may continue the setup or skip it by clicking the 'Not right now' button.

Next steps

Navigate to Customizer > Homepage Settings, in Your homepage displays select Your latest posts.

Navigate to Settings > Permalinks, in Common Settings select Post Name and click Save Changes.

Navigate to SportsPress > Settings > General, in Sport select your type of sport and click Save Changes.

In case you don't want to import the demo content, you need to create two empty pages in Pages > Add New. The slugs of the pages must be: login and passwordreset

The installation process is now completed but you may notice that the website looks a bit empty.

At this moment, you can:
- start adding your content and configuring the theme by your own
or
- proceed to the next step and import the demo content to have an easy start.

Demo Import

We highly recommned you to import the demo content by following the instructions below:

1. Make sure you have installed and activated the necessary plugins
2. In the Admin Panel navigate to: Appearance → Import Demo Data
3. Choose the demo you need and click Import Demo and Continue & Import.

Please notice: in case you haven't installed and activated the WooCommerce plugin, you may get some warnings after the import. In this case, they can be ignored.

Creating Menu

Navigate to Appearance > Menus > Manage Locations, in Head Menu select Top Menu/Head Menu and click Save Changes.

In case you have installed and activated the QuadMenu plugin you will need to import the menu styles.
In the Admin Panel navigate to QuadMenu > Options > Import / Export and click Import from File. Paste the code to the textarea and click Import.

Please notice: if you attempt to import the menu styles and have the following message:
PHP Warning: Unknown: Input variables exceeded 1000
Open the PHP configuration file on your server and find: ;max_input_vars = 1000. Change it to max_input_vars = 5000 and try to import again.

Slider Demo Import

You may also import the demo content for the slider:
In the Admin Panel navigate to Smart Slider, click New Project > Or Import Your Own Files. In the Upload File field select the necessary .ss3 file from the theme archive and click Import.

In the next screen you may notice the ID number of the slider. Copy this number and navigate to Customizer > Homepage Sections > Header. In theSelect the Slider field select Smart Slider 3 and paste the ID into the Smart Slider 3 ID field. Click Publish.

ALL DONE

Theme Translation

The theme is translation ready. So you can use Poedit or similar software to translate it or change some text. You can find some information about it here

Anyway, we recommend to use Loco Translate plugin.

Theme Customization

All customization options are available in the Customizer.

Main Menu

There are two menus that can be used in the theme:

- The simple menu based on Bootstrap framework. It is used by default, has no customization options and supports only one level of nesting.

- The QuadMenu is a mega menu based on the plugin. It has many customization options and supports multiple levels of nesting.

Slider

You can use two sliders in the theme: Smart Slider 3 and Slider Revolution. You can select the slider in Customizer > Homepage Section > Header Section.

If you want to use Slider Revolution:

1. Create new slider in the Slider Revolution menu and copy its alias.
2. Navigate to Customizer → Homepage Sections → Header Section → Choose Slider Revolution in the select field and paste the alias name into the according field.
3. Save changes.

Sports Pages

All the content like League Tables, Events, Teams etc. should be created in the SportsPress interface.

Media

Creating Media Item

Please notice: media items are used in the Media Section and by the following link: yoursite.com/media/

In the Admin Panel navigate to Media → Add New.

1. Give a title to the Media item
2. Select one of the media types on the right.
• If you want to add an image: choose the Image type and set your image in the featured image field
• If you want to add an audio: choose the audio type, set featured image and provide a link to the audio to the Media URL field.
• If you want to add a video: choose the video type, set featured image and provide a link to the video to the Media URL field

Updating Theme

In order to update the theme you should download the archive from the marketplace again.

Extract it and find the archive with the theme.

Upload this archive in Wordpress Admin Panel and activate the theme.
